More new-look Aldi details revealed
Aldi bosses have revealed that they plan to open their Strathaven store and will give a new look to the town.
In a meeting with the Community Council Aldi representatives for the new store outlined the progress.
Last December, the strip out of the old store began and building warrants were acquired in mid-March.
They also outlined the route of the service vehicles into the store area via the existing entrance to the Car Park in Barn Street and exiting into Louden Street.
This is alleged to become a one way system and it is hoped to remove the need to reverse into Louden Street.
He also insisted care was being taken with the listed part of the building, with that part of the store set to become a welfare facility for staff. The representative told the council “the store will present a modern, comprehensive store for the people of Strathaven displaying experiential growth.”
It is scheduled to open by the end of October 2016.
A spokesperson for Aldi said: “We had a very constructive meeting with the community council to bring them up to date with plans. Store opening is scheduled for Autumn 2016 and although all work is on schedule, there is no fixed date at this point.
