Walkers make a split

-

Claremont Rambling Club and friends set off for their Comrie to St. Fillans walk last week.

The walkers were split into two with the long walkers doing 10 miles starting with a gradual climb from Conrie up through Glen Boltachan crossing moorland to Loch Boltachan,

Unfortunately due to weather conditions which varied from wet to a fine drizzle, the lunch stop was interrupted by a midge attack.

Overall the long walkers climbed 1,349 feet followed by a steep descent into St. Fillans.

The alternative walk managed 8 miles circular from Comrie town centre passing by the Earthquake House. The long walk was a first for the club and it was agreed to be a great success.

The morning coffee stop was at the Crieff Visitors Centre and the social which was well deserved was enjoyed in the Comrie Royal Hotel.

The next walk is on Sunday June 26 and the destination is Ben Venue.

The next club night is Tuesday June 28 which will be the last club night of this session and will be a Club evening.

This will take the form of a Fish Super event along with entertainment provided by our own Denys Docherty and club members.

Club meetings are held in the usual venue of Claremont Church Hall at 7.30pm.

Visitors wishing to come along either to the walks or the Club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
