Old Firm legends will come together this Sunday for a special charity football match in memory of East Kilbride boy Lee Jamieson.

The second annual Celtic and Rangers Legends and Locals Charity Match will be this year be held at East Kilbride Showpark in aid of Bloodwise.

Twelve-year-old Lee sadly lost his nine-month battle with leukaemia in August 2014.

Since then the former Murray Primary pupil’ s family, friends and supporters have made it their mission to raise as much money as possible to fund leukaemia and lymphoma research to help find a cure.

Lee’ s mum Elizabeth-Ann and dad Stephen set up charity foundation Live it for Lee which last year held a hugely successful legends and locals match at K-Park and, through various fundraising events, have raised an incredible £70,000 for Bloodwise.

And this year’ s starstudded charity match is set to be even bigger with Celtic greats Simon Don nelly, JackieMc Na mara, Mark Burchill, Brian McLaughlin and Stuart Gray and Rangers legends Ally McCoist, Ian Durrant, Neil McCann, Peter McDonald, Charlie Miller and Andy Goram confirmed to play at the 2500-capacity park.

In a special tribute, Lee’s former team mates a tE K Caledonian Thistle Football Club will kick off the kids’ tournament from 11 am before the big game at 2pm featuring the Old Firm stars.

And there will be a whole host of fun attractions on the day including a pipe band performance and cheerleaders.

Famous Scottish Premier League team mascots including Hoopy and Broxi the Bear will also be entertaining the crowds and there will be entertainment throughout the day.

Fairground attractions, a bouncy castle, DJ, face painting, burger bars, ice cream vans and other fun stalls will be providing added thrills for all the family on the day. Gates open 10am. Lee’s dad Stephen told the News : “I am sure families that come along will all have a fantastic day out.

“This is all for a fantastic cause and we will continue to raise funds for this badly needed research in memory of our son Lee.

“I can’t begin to tell you what a cruel and devastating disease this is and to have your child taken from you in any way truly is devastating and ruins lives in the process.

“Continuing to help raise awareness and funds in our son’s name will hopefully help save lives in the future.”

Blood wise fund worldclass research and offer expert information and support to anyone affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancer related disorders.

Tickets for the Celtic and Rangers Legends and Locals Charity Match cost £5.
