Olympia car park set for refurbishment
E K ’s O l y m p i a c a r p a r k is set for a substantial refurbishment as part of the shopping centre’s ongoing improvement programme.
The essential works, whi c h w i l l l a s t f r o m Ju l y 18 till October 31, will predominantly focus on the upper levels of the car park and include the replacement of t he ex i s t i ng waterproof covering and introduction of additional drainage.
Contractors have planned the project to keep disruption t o a m i n i mu m f o r b o t h t enants and visitors t o t he centre with all entrance and exit points continuing to be accessible t hroughout t he duration of the works.
Access to the library, Pure Gym and the Odeon Cinema will be maintained. However, parking on the upper levels will be significantly reduced a n d t h e r e may b e s o me localised disruption to the ground floor over the next few months.
C e n t r e d i r e c t o r, I a n McLelland, said: “The centre has undergone a huge refurbishment programme over the past few years and t hese works f or m an i mp o r t a n t p a r t o f t h e s e ongoing efforts to improve the visitor experience at EK.
“This is a major piece of work and we ai m t o have it complete in time for the o p e n i n g o f t h e c e n t r e ’s new family-focused leisure development later this year. As t he pro j e c t c o nt i nues we will make every effort to minimise any disruption to shoppers, retailers and local residents.”
T h e O l y mpi a c a r p a r k refurbishment comes on the back of a series of significant improvement projects at the Plaza and Centre West car parks in recent years.
