Schoolgirl, 11, has her hair cut for cancer charities Denies charges
A kind-hearted Greenhills schoolgirl has followed in her family’s fundraising footsteps by going a cut above for a cause close to her heart.
E l e v e n - y e a r- o l d Ly n d s a y Connolly recently had 13 inches cut from her flowing blonde locks in memory of her little cousin Callum Everett.
The four-year-old St Leonards tot, who became known as East Kilbride’s “l i t t l e braveheart”, tragically lost his two-year battle with neuroblastoma in October 2010.
Along with her family and fr iends, St Vincent’s Primar y pupil Lyndsay was determined to help raise funds for the c har i t y CLIC Sargent which provided vital support for brave Callum until his death.
Now, i n a n o t h e r s h ow o f support for children living with cancer, Lyndsay has donated her chopped hair to the Little Princess Trust who provide realhair wigs for children affected by cancer.
Setting up not just one, but t wo Ju s t Gi v i n g f u n d r a i s i n g pages for the cancer charities, the youngster plans to split her total donations between the two causes – which currently stand at around £500.
Lyndsay got the chop at home last week and is thrilled with her new bob.
She said: “I wanted to raise money f o r CLI C Sa r g e nt i n memory of my cousin Callum who lost his fight with cancer.
“CLIC Sarg e nt a re a huge s u p p o r t t o f a mi l i e s o f s i c k children so please can you help me and my mum by helping me raise lots of money to help children with cancer so they can be happy.”
Proud mum Nicola Burns ( 42) described her daughter a s “i n s p i r a t i o n a l ”, a d d i n g : “Ly n d s a y ’s e f f o r t s a r e we l l underway for her fundraising. She has raised £500 so far and is still collecting for both charities.
“I am so proud of her, she is such an i nspirational young lady.
“She is not only keen to raise money but also to raise awareness of how we can all help others who are ill in many ways.”

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week Stephen Brown (31) of, 41 Franklin Place in Westwood, denied shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner towards his partner on July 3 at his home address.
Trial was set for September 1 with a intermediate hearing due to take place on August 8.
