Tea and support at Memory Cafe

A warm welcome, a cuppa and support are on the menu at East Kilbr i de Dementia Ca r e r s’ Gro u p’s Memor y Cafe.

Run in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland and the N HS c o mmuni t y me n t a l health team, it meets in the town’s Bruce Hotel from 1– 3pm.

The cafe, which is open on t he s econd Wednesday of each month, offers a warm w e l c o me t o p e o p l e w i t h dementia, carers and those who are worried about their memory.

Over a friendly cuppa, People in East Kilbride are being urged to nominate their local healthcare heroes as the hunt for Scotland’s top health workers begins.

Ever y y ear, t he S c ot t i s h Health Awards recognise and reward dedicated NHS staff, support workers, volunteers a nd s peci a l i s t t e a ms who go the extra mile to provide outstanding patient care.

Nominati o ns a r e b e i ng sought from those who want to acknowledge the quality of treatment they have received, ei t her f or t hemselves or a loved one.

This is an opportunity to there’s an opportunity to get advice and support as well as find out about the services available.

T h r o u g h o u t t h e y e a r, t h e c a r e r s’ g r o u p h o s t s a number of social nights to allow families to socialise in a supported environment and have fun together.

These events include a v a r i e t y s how, a meal i n South Lanarkshire College’s training restaurant and reminiscence nights.

There are 16 award c a t e g o r i e s, i n c l u d i n g t h e Nu r s e Aw a r d , Vo l u n t e e r Award, and Doctor Award.

Finalists will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on November 3.
