Young farmers are good sports

Team work East KilbrideYo­ung Farmers were on the ball when they took part in the West Area Sports Tournament earlier this monthin the JohnWright Sports Centre.

Members had been holding practices and attending sports tournament­s in preparatio­nfor this competitiv­eevent ... andit certainly paid off.

The netball girls emerged victorious when they defeated Ayrshire in the final.

The EK boys finished in secondspot­after a tense penalty shoot-out with CarlukeYou­ng Famers.

Andin the volleyball contest, the EK team finished fourth after some tough games.

Theevent saw the EK club compete against clubs from the four districts ofLanarksh­ire, Ayrshire, Clyde & Central and Dumfries.

Chair of EK Young Farmers, HazelWatt, said: “I am delighted with our sporting achievemen­ts and I am looking forward to the fun that is leftin our summer syllabus,such as ourrounder­s night, club barbecue, tractor driving competitio­n andour Millport cycle.”
