EK News readers jump online to voice their anger

-

THE East Kilbride public are furious with British Gymnastics after they left British champion Pamela Clark out of the Olympic team for Rio.

British Gymnastics have said they will not be commenting any further on the matter.

But News readers are not happy and took to our Facebook page to convey their anger at the decision.

Carolann McCrorie commented:“Reigning British champion and left out the Olympics. Something isn’t right there. Poor girl all the time and effort put in she should be there.”

Anne Marie McArthur said:“Justice for Pam. Doesn’t British (sic) want any Gold medals only English. Shocking this must be investigated immediately. Hope they do a u-turn.

“The British Champion should be there. Good luck.”

Christine Ferguson posted:“The selection committee - what is their reasoning for this. British title should automatically get you in the Rio squad! Its endemic in a lot of sports right now. It’s politics and if your face fits. Absolutely gutted for her.”

Jennifer Kerr asked:“Is it because she is Scottish?”

James Gillespie posted:“How can they justify their decision to stop the British Champion from competing in the Olympics? Disgraceful!”

George Mooney said:“So they are choosing candidates that are“best placed to deliver medals for team GB”by the only sense of logic here that should go to the British champion and 2nd place, not 2nd and 3rd place, what an absolute disgrace, we all know the real reason, politics...”
