the ball home.

Two minutes later the game was all square again as Thistle trialist Martin Colgan failed to cut out a cross ball on the edge of the box for Stranraer to sink the ball beyond the despairing hands of Treacy. Campbell’s men then hit back with two goals in six minutes with Liam McLaughlin playing a major part in both goals.

On 34 minutes he collected a fine pass from Colgan on the left, skipped past his marker and from inside the penalty box squared the ball across goal for strike partner Faulds to fire home at the back post.

Just before the break a Colgan ball down the left found McLaughlin and his perfectly weighted cross was met by the boot of Aaron Connolly, who slotted home from close range.

Stranraer hit back in 52 minutes with a deflected strike, but the hosts killed the Blues off in 66 minutes when McLaughlin’s strike cannoned back off the crossbar and Oates pounced to fire in the final goal of the game.

This Saturday the Jags host Thorniewood United and Campbell added: “I’ll be looking to mix it up for that one and get more of the boys a run out.

“We’ll go away and work on some of the areas we weren’t so comfortable with against a very fit U20s team and go from there.

“It’s early doors and we’re only one game into pre-season, but there’s plenty of encouraging signs.

“We wanted to start positively and we’ve done that. Now we have to build on this.” After the departure of their club photographer, East Kilbride Thistle are on the lookout for a new snapper.
