Dream job for Alex

East Kilbride News social media users were delighted to read Alexander Hart’s story, as he secured his dream job at an EK garage.

Alex, who has learning difficulti­es, did a placement at Knox Brothers Garage before securing a permanent position.

Erica Law was delighted at Alex’s story, commenting: “Fantastic , I’ve no doubt he will do an amazing job .

“We need more companies like them.”

Janice Brewster said on Facebook: “Well done Alexander and all your employees.

“There should be more people like you in the world fantastic.”

Jim Speers recognised car-lover Alex and added: “Good on them – this wee guy use to hang about outside my work helping guide the car transporte­rs. “Good to see he got a job.” Councillor David Watson was also delighted for the Knox Brothers employee: “Well done to Knox Brothers – hope more companies follow this example.”

Sarah Johnstone also recognised the young man, and had more praise for him, adding: “Aww well done.

“He’s a true wee gent. He opened taxi doors for me quite a few times down the centre. So glad he got his dream job. Guy well deserves it.”

Esther Hart also congratula­ted the garage for taking on Alex, adding: “Well done Knox brothers. There should be more companies like you.”

Post office problems

Last week the News reported on calls for calm at East Kilbride’s main post office, after franchisin­g plans were resurrecte­d.

Central Scotland MSP and East Kilbride West councillor Graham Simpson has urged staff to think carefully ahead of taking strike action after it was revealed last week that plans had been resurrecte­d to franchise the Cornwall Street office.

David Warnock felt that the staff were entitled to take this action, adding: “This is just another cost cutting measure by Royal Mail no matter what they might say , and is now the third time they have tried this on.”

Lisa T time

Online users were quick to praise local musician Lisa T as she prepared to launch her debut album.

Leanne Belch said: “Looking forward to buying Lisa’s new album to play in the salon and car.

“Her voice is incredible.”
