Piano man fundraiser St Leonards disorder

Police last week told the News they were carrying out nightly patrols in St Leonards as part of a crackdown on violence and youth disorder which has blighted the area in recent weeks.

However, there was a mixed response on the new crackdown on social media.

Chris Ladds commented on Facebook:“I tend to see large groups of teenagers , 25 of them or so up there at night, but all laughing and dressed up to see their friends. They even said hi and were cracking jokes. Never expected to read a story like that.”

Graham Hosie had not seen any issues, posting: “Lived in St Leonards for nearly three years now, never had any bother at all.”

But Marion Wilson felt there was a bigger issue, noting on social media: “The thing that concerns me is the undesirables that hang about the shops, not schoolkids.

“It’s very intimidating. I’ve mentioned it to the Tesco manager.”

Life-changing treatment

An East Kilbride woman has become the first person to receive life-changing treatment.

Sarah Campbell was given a high-tech bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) after cancer treatment had left her deaf in one ear.

Social media users were delighted for Sarah, as Gillian Duff posted to Facebook:“Aw, fantastic Sarah.

“Hope all continues to go well for you, can’t believe all you have been through.”

Grace Ross was also happy to read the good new story online:“God bless hope all goes well for you.”
