Highs and lows of Crieff hill walks

-

The Duncanrig Ramblers took on a new walk to Crieff last week.

The high walk followed the farm and estate shooting track as the group took on the hills above Crieff including a climb up Mealllneveron Hill and they took in some lovely scenery along the way.

They walked down the side of the Falls of Barvick crossing over the Turret Burn, through the woods over fields onto a track down to meet the coach at the distillery at the Hosh.

The alternative walk started at Sma’ Glen and followed the line of the Wade military road over to Foulford Inn and crossed over the A822 Trunk road.

They then procceeded to a track which passed by a golf course up over the Milquhanzie hills passing by the western edge of Low Moor Woods and then on past Benollo farm.

The ramblers then descended down via a number of farms reaching onto an overgrown track that led past Cultoquhey House Hotel, dealing with a herd of bullocks blocking the way before reaching the village of Gilmerton.

At the western end of the village the walkers headed onto an estate track into a forest and followed the paths through the forest below the Knock of Creiff, before long the group had reached Creiff and the waiting coach.

The next walk is at Loch Fyne on the of August 14 and must be booked by August 8.
