Diners give golf star a warm welcome

-

It’s not everyday that you get the chance to dine with a champion, but that’s what happened for some Carmunnock locals as they welcomed Ladies Scottish Open Winner Isabelle Boilea.

Isabelle and her caddy Alexis visited Mitchells restaurant in Carmunnock after her success at the event in Dundonald, after restaurant owner Angus Boyd played the first couple of rounds alongside her.

And she took time to meet and chat to locals as well enjoying her meal.

Angus told the News that she received a round of applause when she came in to the restaurant - and has already discussed coming back next year. He said:“We spoke about how different Scotland is in their attitude to golf versus the French - we love our golf more than they love their food!

“It was a tearful moment for her when she stepped in to the restaurant unannounced and was instantly recognised by several of the diners who were upstanding and gave her a warm welcoming round of applause which made her evening.”

The talk also turned to food and Angus added: “In true Augusta fashion we discussed her next champions menu selection for when she returns to defend the trophy.

“Being from Marseille there is a good chance it will be the Glasgow version of the classic‘ Bouillabaisse’ fish and seafood casserole.”
