The club, which will this year feature the theme ‘The Adventure Cruise’, is open to all children who are currently in primary one to primary seven. It runs from Monday August 1 to Friday August 5 from 10am to noon, and culminates with a special service in the church on Sunday August 7. To sign up go to the Eaglesham Parish Church’s website and download the registration and consent form.

Meteor shower

The Whitelee Windfarm is set to welcome visitors to view a meteor shower later this month. The Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the brighter meteor showers of the year and will be peaking overnight August 12. For this the Eaglesham windfarm will open their doors to their visitors centre to provide a warm and safe place to view this amazing sight. Staff from the planetarium at Glasgow Science Centre will also be on hand to provide information on where you should be looking, what you should look out for, and general stargazing tips. The centre will be open for cafe and toilet use. If you wish to attend bring a red lense torch, a deck chair, binoculars and warm clothing. There are no tickets for this event, please just turn up on the night. The team from the Glasgow Science Centre Planetarium will be on site from 10pm on August 12 until 1am on August 13 to answer any questions you may have. The building will remain open after this time but only for the cafe and toilets. Due to the timings this event is not suitable for young children. In the event of poor weather this event may be cancelled so keep an eye on the Whitelee Windfarm social media for up to date information.
