Couple feel the love

O n social media this week readers were overjoyed to read about Deaf-blind couple Clark Steven and Eliza Smith and the news that they would tie the knot after 13 years together.

Friends, family, and East Kilbride News readers were delighted for the pair.

Rachael Griffiths commented on Facebook: “Aww lovely news – haven’t seen them for a while so this is amazing – wish all the best for them.”

Andrew Scott Williamson added: “Just what I needed today to cheer me up congratula­tions to you both!”

Kayley Karen Smith was also delighted for the happy couple, posting to social media: “Myself and all my team at Goldsmiths wish them all the very best on their big day.“

“Isn’t this lovely!” added Lindsay Irvine.

OAP attacked on bus

Police are on the hunt for a vicious thug who attacked an OAP on a bus, leaving him with a serious eye injury.

The 74-year-old was travelling on a 201, and the News called for action following the attack.

Audrey Mcewan was shocked by the incident, and wrote to us on Facebook.

She said: “What is happening to East Kilbride. Not as lovely as it used to be. “I hope he is ok.” Marie Ford also slammed the attackers on Facebook adding: “Don’t they have CCTV on buses? This makes me feel physically sick, should not be tolerated. “Throw the book at him.” Irene Mcphee also posted to Facebook adding: “Disgusting hope he’s ok poor old man.”

Man stabbed in Square

Shoppers were horrified as a man was stabbed in broad daylight in St Leonards Square.

The 33-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds at around 1.15pm on High Common Road.

Emma Jane Swallow took to Facebook to note that the incident was a poor reflection on the town: “East Kilbride is getting worse.”

Eddie Lindsay felt that there was problems everywhere at the moment, adding: “It doesn’t matter where you stay these days. Its everywhere.”

Following the calls, which also included new CCTV to be put in place, David Macaulay also added sarcastica­lly: “Sure do miss EK...”
