Has it been a fun summer for the kids?
EK happy despite the wet weather
The summer holidays are officially over for East Kilbride school kids, as they returned to the classroom this week.
And while it may have been over all too quick for some, with sunny days coming few and far between in Scotland, some youngsters were looking forward to getting back to school.
The News took to the streets to see how everyone has enjoyed the summer months.
EK shopper Jim McGrandles (63) said that his granddaughter was looking forward to going back to school, but had still enjoyed the summer.
He said: “She went to Disneyland this summer, and she really enjoyed it, especially with it not being great weather here.”
Ray McAuslan (62), from The Murray, has enjoyed the summer in Scotland and taking out her grandchildren.
She said: “There are things to keep you busy at home and I have visited the Merchant City and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.”
Frank Murphy (61), who was shopping with granddaughter Ava, said he was looking to getting away at some point this year after bad weather in Scotland.
Alice Sanaghan has been enjoying her time with grandchildren Kayla (9) and Ruby (6) , but said they couldn’t wait to get back to school.
“I’ve had them this week, which has been great, but they don’t know what to do with themselves,” she added.
