Emerson claims county crown

-

East Kilbride Golf Club Junior members have achieved a number of notable results over the past week – with Jack Emerson taking pride of place.

The 15-year-old won the Lanarkshire County Gents Handicap Stroke-play Championship at Hamilton Golf Club, recording net scores of 69 and 68 over the two rounds to take the title.

Jack’s handicap has tumbled from 18 to five in just over a year and this success is just reward for all the hard work he has done on his game, working with club’s PGA professional Graeme Bell.

Meanwhile, on August 2, another junior member, Michael Anderson, won best gross and net prizes at The Ferguson Cup, a 36- hole Junior Open event played at Strathaven Golf Club.

Michael is another junior member who is making great progress and his achievement was all the more amazing as he was just back from holiday after four weeks away.

Finally, East Kilbride Golf Club members completed a clean sweep of the gross competition as Allan Woodhouse and Scott Buchanan finished second and third, respectively.

In addition, Susan Woodhouse finished second in the girls event.

Junior summer coaching sessions are currently underway at the Nerston venue and memberships are available in all Junior and Adult categories, with special rates available.
