Thumbs-up for local services
Bus backing Good service Signalling problems on the line between East Kilbride and Glasgow Central led to disruption to train services.
The problems started in the early hours of the morning on Friday, September 16 – with the line expected to have been repaired before 8am – and led to users on social media calling for improvements to the service.
Commuters were hit by cancellations before normal service was resumed late afternoon.
The News took to the streets to see if anyone else had issues with public transport in town.
Margaret Anderson from Stewartfield told the News that she uses the train when she travels into Glasgow at weekends and has yet to be delayed. She said: “It might be quieter at the weekends or they don’t do as much work but I haven’t noticed a problem.”
Jean Brickett said she thought the bus service was a good alternative to the trains: “I travel up and down from Ayr on the bus. It’s a great service.”
EK shopper Sonia Landa admitted that she hadn’t had problems on the train, but added: “Maybe I’ve just been lucky! You hear about people having quite a lot of problems.”
Richard Louden said that he normally drives everywhere, but felt the train was a good option, adding: “I use it once a month or so and I’m happy with it.”
