Guard yourself against car crime

-

Don’t leave anything in your vehicle, whether valuable or not.

If anything has to be left, put it out of sight in the boot and ensure that your boot is locked.

Please always try to park your vehicle in a busy, well-lit area and where possible near to public space CCTV cameras.

If your vehicle is parked in your driveway, consider installing an outside security light which activates at night if someone approaches your vehicle.

Finally, please ensure that your car alarm is in working order.

Last week your Safer Communities Officer attended the Positive Communities Event at East Kilbride Shopping Centre.

This was an opportunity for the public to speak with a local officer, the fire service and the council about anti-social behaviour in their area.

From speaking with members of the public it was highlighted that the majority were not aware of their local community policing team.

East Kilbride is split into five ward areas and each of these areas has allocated community policing officers who focus on our local policing priorities.

Our Police Scotland website has details of each ward area and provides information and news of what your community policing team are doing in your area.

If you require any advice or want to speak to a community officer you can attend at East Kilbride Police Office between the hours of 8am-6pm, seven days a week or alternatively you can contact 101.

To report a crime call the nonemergency nuumber 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
