Camera Club

On September 22 the members selected digital images for their match an image competitio­ns later in the year against Lesmahagow and Motherwell camera clubs. The judging night for the first open competitio­n has been changed to November 3 and the ‘getting started in landscape’ video tutorial scheduled for that night has been brought forward to September 29. On October 13 there will be a demonstrat­ion of 3D photograph­y by Denis Alyshev. This meeting is open to non-members. Climbing Club

The club meets in the Weavers on the first Tuesday of every month. It has a programme of monthly weekend meets, using climbing huts and hostels for accommodat­ion. There are also occasional day meets and opportunit­ies for midweek climbing indoors. Other events include ceilidhs, slide nights and talks by climbers, mountainee­rs and well-known names in the outdoor activity scene. The members cover a wide range of interests and abilities from hill walkers and mountainee­rs to ice and rock climbers. Round Table

The charter dinner to celebrate the Strathaven club’s 50th anniversar­y takes place on October 7. Tickets for the celebratio­n in the Strathaven Hotel are on sale, priced £40. Autumn Club

The club will resume their schedule today (Wednesday) at 2pm in the Reid Hall. Their first entertaine­r will be Felix Lennon. New and former members are welcome to attend. More informatio­n from president Jim McCready on 0141 644 4579.

The toddlers group meet every Tuesday in the Clason Hall from 9.30-11am. There are lots of toys to keep the children amused while the adults enjoy a coffee and a blether.

Toddlers Community council

Carmunnock Community Council will meet on Monday, October 3, at 7pm in the Castlemilk Hall. This will also be an election meeting, when members will be elected for the next term and officers will be appointed. After the public meeting which was held to discuss the proposed housing developmen­t the council will oppose any planning applicatio­n.

The Recreation Club will host their usual open mic jammin’ session on Friday, with doors open from 7.30pm and the jammin’ kicking off around 9pm. Non-members are welcome and entry is free.
