get a goal because he worked hard all game and deserved to get a reward for that.

“But all the players worked hard and they had to really dig in to turn things around.

“Newmains is a tough place to go and, no matter what the table says, they are a better team than where they are right now.

“I’m sure they’ll climb their way back up the table.

“It’s pleasing that the goals are spread across the team and we aren’t relying on one player in particular to get the goals.

“Our link-up play has been really good as well.”

With two attempts to play Dunipace called off due to a waterlogged Showpark in the last month, Thistle are playing catch-up in the division.

They now have two weeks of cup fixtures ahead of them before returning to league duty at the end of the month but Campbell is delighted to be the only unbeaten team in the league.

He said: “I’m really happy with the start we’ve made and with the manner of the wins we’ve picked up.

“We’ve played some of the teams who came down from the division above us and beaten them. We were unlucky not to beat Ashfield in our first game as well so I’m happy with where we are at the moment.

“There’s a really competitive squad here and it was great to see Ross McKinnon, Barry Devine and Ryan Carnwath getting some game time and making good contributions on Saturday.

“We’re going well and long may that continue but it’s still very early.”

Campbell’s men will face their toughest test of the season so far on Saturday when they travel to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

The Super Premier League leaders, playing four tiers above Thistle, have had a flawless start to their campaign.

The Rabs have won 12 from 12 in all competitions, including lifting the Sectional League Cup on penalties last week, and that kind of form would strike fear into any side.

Campbell conceded: “Rob Roy are absolutely flying right now and we know it’s going to very difficult.

“They are top of the league with five wins from five and are unbeaten all season so they are going really well.

“I’m under no illusions how difficult Saturday will be but we will still set up to play football and give it a go.

“As long as we compete and show what we can do, that’s all I can ask of the players. “We’ve got nothing to lose.” Saturday’s clash at Guys Meadow kicks off at 2pm.
