Hospice shops in help plea

Volunteers needed

- Staff reporter

Kilbryde Hospice are appealing for volunteers to help in their shops.

The hospice operate three charity shops, two in East Kilbride shopping centre and one in Hamilton.

The charity also have a warehouse unit in College Milton, where they sort, prepare and store all donated stock before it is sent to the shops for sale.

Hospice chief executive Gordon McHugh explained: “While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment or take up a huge part of your already busy day.

“Our retail volunteers give what they can and help with the day-to-day running of our shops, whilst working as part of a small and friendly team.

“The locations of Kilbryde Hospice’s retail businesses across South Lanarkshire offer a wide range of volunteering and training opportunities, whether you are ready to finish school and looking to gain work experience or you just wish to gain new skills to challenge yourself and try something different.

“Every day is different in the retail department and therefore every day is an opportunity to learn something new.”

The hospice’s aim is to keep the shops at an above-average standard.

The training on offer includes visual merchandising and window dressing to retail administration and finance.

Anyone who wants to volunteer can contact 01355 202020 or email info@ kilbrydehospice.org.uk.
