Aldi will be opening the doors to its new store in Strathaven tomorrow (Thursday) with some golden tickets up for grabs for the first 100 lucky customers.

The first 100 people in the queue will receive golden envelopes containing a prize.

Customers will be in with the chance of winning a range of top prizes including a 48-inch TV, Air Fat Fryer, DAB Alarm Clock Radios and bags of groceries.

To celebrate the opening, the store will also be donating £250 and a range of Aldi products to the Strathaven Scouts and Guides to support the group’s weekly activities.

Boy scouts and girl guides will be on hand on the day to help store manager Raechel McKenzie declare the store open in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The store, on Waterside Street, has created over 25 new jobs, providing a range of opportunities for local people.

Customers visiting the shop will have access to 61 car parking spaces and will benefit from over 1800 core product lines including fresh, locally sourced goods.

In addition to the opening day ‘golden ticket’ giveaway Aldi will be offering samples of Scottish products for customers to try on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22.

Raechel McKenzie said: “We’re really pleased with the store and we’re looking forward to welcoming our new customers with a special golden ticket event. We’ll also be showcasing some of our fantastic Scottish suppliers... and with some great opening week deals on in store.”
