Balloon Festival The annual general meeting of the Strathaven Balloon Festival will take place in The Office, adjacent to The Strathaven Town Mill Arts and Heritage Centre in Stonehouse Road, at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 26. All welcome. Strathaven Balloon Festival has become a major community event, attracting over 20,000 visitors in fine weather, and is highly-acclaimed by members of the public and international hot air balloonists alike. It is planned, organised and managed by a team of local folk, who are keen to encourage others to join them – and to encourage businesses to sponsor this annual event.

Camera Club On Thursday, November 13, the club hosted Denis Alyshev, who gave his presentation of stereoscopic 3D images from around the world and any members unable to attend have missed a truly memorable evening. Denis’s images were taken in Scotland, Japan and Denis’s home country Russia. Denis uses two slide images taken from two positions to produce his 3D images and the effect is then produced using projectors and cinema 3D spectacles. Members are reminded that the October 20 meeting is the ‘Match an Image’ night against Lesmahagow at home and to bring along some home baking for the end of match tea.
