Annual dinner dance honours star bowlers
Red Deer Bowling Club honoured their star performers of 2016 at their annual dinner dance earlier this month.
Club president Harry McManus and his wife Ann were on hand to present the prizes and the winners and runners-up from an action-packed year of competition were as follows:
Club Triples – winners: Tony Smithson, George Jordan and Peter Syme; runners-up: June Henderson, Anne Cartledge and Ian Richmond.
Jubilee Triples – winners: Margaret Barlas, Robert Cartledge and Maria McGraw; runners-up: Harry McManus, Anne Cartledge and Stuart Nicholls.
Gents Triples – winners: Martin Esler, Stuart Nicholls and Willie McNee; runners-up: Harry McManus, John McCrorie and Danny Lithgow.
Ladies Pairs – winners: Maria McGraw and Josie Sherry; runners-up: Anne Cartledge and Mary McKie.
Fairs Pairs – winners: Tam and Robert Cartledge; runners-up: Ken Macaulay and Jim Neil

Awards were also presented to players who succeded in external competitions.
The EK Ladies finished in third place in the EK and District League, while the gents team won their league, the Top Ten tournament and Super Sevens Competition.
In the East Kilbride Sports Council’s Civic Singles Robert Cartledge won first prize and in the Civic Rinks Red Deer team Harry McManus, Richie Sheridan, Gerry Briody and Ian Richmond came out on top.
