Sean Winter has revealed he wants to play out the rest of his career at East Kilbride.

The fans’ favourite has told the News he would love to pull on the blue and gold of his hometown team for another decade and play a testimonial at their proposed new stadium in Langlands.

Winter left League One side Stranraer in 2015 to join Lowland League Kilby.

Since then he has been an integral part of the squad under both Billy Ogilvie and current gaffer Martin Lauchlan.

The midfielder inisits “everything is perfect” for him at East Kilbride and would love nothing more than to end his playing days at Kilby – giving the club a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup second round tie with Cowdenbeath.

The 29-year-old told the News: “I want to retire at East Kilbride.

“I’m 30 next year and I really like the way the club is going, so I don’t feel a need to move anywhere else.

“I’m onboard with everything the club is trying to do for the town, there’s a new stadium being built soon and the club are on the up.

“Next year I’m getting married as well so everything in my life is perfect in East Kilbride.

“I’d love it if I could stay at the club for another 10 years and have a wee testimonial in the new stadium.

“I’d be 38/39 by that time, but I don’t see why I can’t keep going.

“I’m playing the best football I’ve played for years here and everything suits me, so I don’t want to go anywhere else.”

Winter was East Kilbride’s player of the year last season, scoring 22 goals from midfield, which included a number of crucial strikes in the run to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

His performances drew admirers from the leagues above but Winter told his pursuers he’s going nowhere.

He added: “I had a few offers in the summer to go back to League One or League Two, but I didn’t see why I would do that when I firmly believe I can return to that level with East Kilbride.

“We are going really well in the league and our aim is to reach the play-offs, so if we get up to League Two next season that would be great. If not, we’ll go again next season.

“I’m enjoying my football here and long may that continue.”
