The Girl Guides and Brownies of East Kilbride Old Parish Church are once again supporting Blythswood Care’s Christmas Shoe Box Appeal.

The big-hearted girls, their families and supporters are giving hope to people this Christmas by filling boxes with useful items as well as some little surprises.

Blythswood will then send these and every other donated shoe box to needy people across the world, including Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and the Ukraine.

And as the charity celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, hopes are high they will beat the 116,576 shoe boxes which were donated last year.

You can help the East Kilbride Guides and Brownies in their collection by going along to a special coffee morning in the Old Parish Church this Saturday, October 29, between 10am and 1pm.

Take along a donation if you can, but this is not essential. You can go along and enjoy the refreshments and a chance to socialise. It all helps.

If you do take items they can suit adults or children, but must be new and fit into a shoebox, for example, personal hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap, or small items of clothing such as t-shirts, socks/hats/gloves, toys, dated bags of sweets (not chocolate), tools, utensils, candles, stationery, etc.
