Holly in line to compete at British ice contest

-

Holly Freeman marked her 10th anniversary with East Kilbride Ice Figure Skating Club by qualifying for next month’s British Championships.

The 13-year-old claimed the second place trophy at the Aberdeen Open on October 15, where she was competing for the first time at Advance Novice level.

Holly was delighted to claim second place skating to her new program ‘Business Love’, which also helped her qualify for the short program at next month’s British Championships.

Calderglen High School pupil Holly travels around Scotland from Kilmarnock to Murrayfield, Ayr and Dundee to train for a sport she loves with EKIFSC awaiting their return to EK Ice Rink following major refurbishment works in the town’s shopping centre.

Her latest success arrives a decade on from her gran Eleanor Farrell introducing her to the club as a tot.

Holly’s first competition was at Blackpool Ice Skating Festival back in 2008 and she has been a success right through.

Unfortunately, Holly has suffered a few injuries but that has never stopped her trying her best and pushing her way through the levels.

She has claimed a number of trophies during her time and she was chosen to represent Great Britain in Riga and Innsbruck last year.

It’s all down to coaches Yvonne and Silvanna Cameron who are constantly working with Holly, as well as proud mum Nicola who is dedicated to getting herself and Holly up at 4am in the morning to travel for training before school.
