Amanda to raise funds in memory of Clinton

- Lynn Love

A songstress from Law will be singing her heart out for a good cause later this month.

Amanda Bogel, of Law Village, has volunteered her vocal skills to raise money that will go to help grieving families who have lost a child. She will take to the stage at The Admiral in Glasgow as part of the lineup at Gig for Clinton. The live music night has been organised by Graeme McAuslane of Hijacked Records along with the family of three-year-old Moodiesburn boy Clinton Pringle. Three-tear-old Clinton sadly passed away in hospital in Southampton days after he being ran over by a van in Jersey in late June.

Clinton’s heartbroken parents Michael, a reporter who had a short spell at the Wishaw Press, and Stacey, a nursery teacher made the decision to donate their son’s organs including his heart to give others a second chance at life.

Michael and Stacey also recently handed over more than £17,300 to CHAS’s Robin House to help children with life-shortening illnesses and have raised thousands more for a number of other charities.

The grieving couple are now in the process of setting up a trust to help families bereaved in tragic circumstances leave a legacy in their children’s name in their own communities.

Michael said: “Losing your child is without doubt the worst thing that can happen to you, it’s absolutely devastating and even more so when it is sudden like in Clinton’s case. “We were touched by the goodwill shown to us by people who had never met us, as well as our friends.

“As a parent you don’t want your child to be forgotten and we are going to try to make a difference in his name by helping families leave not just a memorial but something useful in their own community to help others.”

Five acts including Amanda will take to the stage for the benefit gig.

Also appearing are Mod and soul band Button Up and Tony Costello from psychedelic rockers Tijuana Bibles

Another North Lanarkshire man, Andy Dempsie will be spinning the vinyl between the live acts on the night.

Profits from the night will go to the Trust being set up in Clinton’s memory.

Gig for Clinton takes place on Thursday, November 24 at The Admiral in Waterloo Street. Tickets cost £10. They are available from Tickets Scotland or by calling Michael on 07921 128887.
