Strictly’s Giovanni comes to Lanarkshire
Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice has just announced his UK tour in 2017 – and he is coming to Hamilton.
Giovanni and his professional dance team and singers will take to the stage in Dance is Life. In Italian, it translates to ‘il ballo è vita’, and this show takes you on a journey of life through dance. This elegant and beautiful tale features four fantastic dancers and two amazing singers that are sure to have you on your feet and leave you with a tear in the eye. Giovanni joined the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 and made the final in his first year with Georgia May Foote, before teaming up with Laura Whitmore in 2016.
Not just another dance and talk show, this has a classy narrative which exudes love and passion.
The tour takes on over 25 UK cities and towns and runs from the end of April to the end of July.
Giovanni was the new kid last year on Strictly.
He started his Strictly career with a bang, reaching the final in 2015 with his partner, Coronation Street actor Georgia May Foote.
Their Charleston got a clean sweep of tens, but ultimately the win went to Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani.
Giovanni was partnered this year with presenter Laura Whitmore.
The couple made it through to round seven only to be voted off the BBC One show, after judges voted unanimously to send her home, following a bottom two dance-off against Ore Oduba.
Giovanni was born in Sicily, and decided from a young age that he wanted to take up dance lessons.
At the age of 14, he moved to Bologna to concentrate on dance and to be taught by some of the best teachers in the world.
Though his greatest achievement to date is winning the Italian Championships in 2012, Giovanni has competed in numerous international dance competitions since first competing as an adult in 2008.
From Moscow to Malta and from Belgrade to Belgium, these competitions have taken Giovanni all over Europe and seen him compete at the highest level for the last seven years.
Giovanni’s favourite dance style is the jive as he feels it reflects his cheeky character.
