Return to league business
East Kilbride Thistle gaffer Billy Campbell has called on his side to take the confidence from their Junior Cup success into their league campaign.
The Showpark outfit claimed a 3-1 win at Culter to make the last 32 of Junior football’s premier competition and they now return to league business in the Central District Second Division.
Due to their cup run and recent postponements, Campbell’s men have five games in hand over leaders Glasgow Perthshire, who they trail by 12 points. They now head to Lanark this Saturday aiming to keep their promotion hopes on track.
Lanark have lost just once in their last six league games, falling to a 3-1 defeat at Glasgow Perthshire on Saturday.
And Campbell said: “We’ve got to get our feet back on the ground after our win in the cup.
“Lanark is a difficult place to go and they’ve had a real tough run of games recently, so they’ll be keen to get a positive result.
“But we should take a real lift from our cup result and, hopefully, we can take that confidence into our league games.
“We’ve got a wee bit of catch up to do because of postponements and our participation in the cup, but we are playing well.
“We’ve had to play with a lot of guys missing in recent weeks and I hope the boys continue to step up to that test.”
Kick-off at Moor Park is 1.45pm.
