Pantomime kids dance with the stars

- Mark Pirie

Four East Kilbride kids have had their dancing shoes on this panto season – oh yes they have!

Lucy Hunter, Anna Haughey, Michael Murtha and Lauren Steele have been treading the boards at the Pavillion Theatre in Glasgow as part of ‘Elfie’s Magical Adventure.’

They’ve taken to the stage alongside stars such as wrestler ‘Grado,’ presenters Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey, and Liam Dolan as ‘Elfie’.

All of the youngsters feature for Glasgow-based dance school Dancepoint, which has had acts appear on Britain’s Got Talent and Got To Dance.

Michael, seven, is the youngest of the dancers and mum Erica says the St Kenneth’s Primary School pupil has been enjoying all the panto preparations

“He has been so excited,” she said. “We’re so proud of him. It’s been all go for him and he’s handled it really well.”

Lucy, 10, was part of the opening night, has panto experience under her belt, and also has experience on Broadway.

Mum Nicola is delighted with St Vincent’s Primary pupil’s progress and said: “It has been a lot of hard work.

“She is doing 20 shows and it will be a busy run-up to Christmas and that’s not including all of the rehearsals. She is really looking forward to her school friends coming to one of her daytime shows as well.”

Anna Haughey, from West Mains, will also be dancing on stage, and mum Lynne said she
