Thank you for a great party

-

Dear Editor,

South Lanarkshire Council stopped their contribution to pensioners’ Christmas lunches two years ago.

This made a significant dent in the East Kilbride and District Dementia Carers Group budget but we were determined to still give all our members and their families a party to remember.

When East Kilbride Community Trust heard of the financial impact of the Christmas grant being withdrawn they stepped in and funded our party, both last year and this.

A Christmas party for almost 70 people was held on Wednesday, December 21, at the Inn on the Stroud and what a great party it was.

Special thanks, therefore, to the East Kilbride Community Trust who donated £1000 to fund the event.

What a superb gesture – and for the second year running.

Monique McAdams from the trust came along as our guest and presented a cheque to Archie Buchanan, chairman of the EK Dementia Carers.

Our thanks also to David, Yvonne and their team at the Inn on the Stroud for a faultless meal and exceptional service.

Kindred Spirit provided entertainment and, as always, the two Brians packed out the dancefloor.

To the team from Pine: thank you one and all for your care and attentiveness.

Lastly, to everyone who came: thank you for coming and making it another memorable party.

Wishing all our members and supporters a very peaceful Christmas and New Year. Brian Doig East Kilbride and District Dementia Carers Group
