Youngsters out to prove they are Top Class on television

A group of East Kilbride youngsters are set to make their small screen debut today.

Four former pupils of Mossneuk Primary – Erin Jenkins, Jacob Darroch, Christie Lunn and Hannah Kelly – who have now moved on to Duncanrig Secondary School, are appearing in the second series ofTop Class – the CBBC quiz show.

Comedian Susan Calman hosts the show which searches for Britain’s smartest school.

Head teacher at Mossneuk Primary, Craig Connon, said:“We had a fantastic time filming at the studios.

“We were treated like real celebritie­s with our own dressing room, make-up artist and hairdresse­r.

“The production team and presenter were all excellent too.

“The pupils worked really hard revising for the questions and they also prepared a powerpoint of questions that I had to practice for my own round.

“Although we were all nervous we had a great time.”

Top Class is a fast-paced, competitiv­e knock-out series which pits schools from the length and breadth of the UK against each other as they answer questions designed to test them to their limits.

The seriesfeat­ures16scho­olsand, show by show, they will be whittled down until just one remains to be crowned the smartest school in Britain.

In each programme, two teams of students will compete against each other in a series of challengin­g and fun rounds which will cover a wide range of subjects.

Kids will have an opportunit­y to impress during their pet subject round while teachers will be in the hot seat during a pop culture round.

At the end of each show, one school will be eliminated from the competitio­n while the other will progress to the next round.

Host Susan said:“I had so much fun testing these fabulously talented kids; they constantly amazed me with their determinat­ion, competitiv­eness and all-round cleverness.

“I learned more from them than they did from me.”
