Accies fans to back EK

-

A group of Hamilton fans are set to boycott next month’s league clash with Kilmarnock in protest over recent results – and watch East Kilbride instead.

The supporters club We Are Hamilton are fed up after watching Accies slump to second bottom of the Premiership.

In a letter to our sister paper, the Hamilton Advertiser, they slammed the team’s displays and stated they had “no faith”in boss Martin Canning.

And, as a form of protest, the fans will snub their next home match against Kilmarmock on February 4 and take in Kilby’s Lowland League trip to Selkirk.

The letter read:“This is not a course of action that we take lightly but we feel it’s necessary at this point to protest against decisions currently being made at the club on and off the pitch.

“We are planning to not attend the home league game against Kilmarnock on February 4 and instead attend East Kilbride’s away tie against Selkirk on the same date.”

Kilby boss Martin Lauchlan welcomed the news that Accies fans would be backing his side against Selkirk.

The club are out of action this weekend and the trip to Selkirk is their next scheduled fixture.

He said:“That’s amazing. If that’s what they want to do, the more the merrier from our point of view.

“You never know, if they like what they see maybe they’ll come back and support us in EK.

“Hopefully, we get a good number of them turn up and we can put in a good performance. It’ll add an extra edge to our game. “There’s a good set-up at Selkirk. “They’ve got a nice wee bar there as well, so I’m sure the Accies fans would have a good day out.”
