Sisters Matilda and Charlie on winning run for Whitemoss

-

Paul Thomson managed a great sprint finish to claim the bronze medal. But Charlie did not stop there. She went on to compete at the Lanarkshire AAA Cross Country Championships at Drumpellier Country Park, claiming a silver medal in a photo finish and helping her U13 girls team to a gold medal.

At the start of December Charlie headed off to run the 3.2k in Ayr at the Lindsay West District event and ran a fantastic race, coming in fifth place overall.

Due to her finishing pace, Charlie received the call-up to gain her first West vest and represent the West of Scotland at the recent District Cross Country Championships against the North and East teams.

This was a fantastic achievement and a result of a lot of hard training. Charlie had a great outing at the event, finishing 12th overall out of 36 athletes.

And if that was not enough, Charlie had a fantastic start to the beginning of the indoor season when she ran 2.31 in the 800m to qualify for the upcoming Scottish Schools Indoor Championships, where she will compete in the 800m in the U16 category.

Coach Gary Beggan said:“Charlie is an absolute dream athlete to coach.

“Her drive and high personal training standards are matched by the countless hours of hard work she puts in to every session.

“Both Charlie and Matilda are doing really well.

“Everyone at Whitemoss AAC, including her parents, is very proud and delighted for their recent successes.”
