It was a tough week for East Kilbride Ladies Hockey Club as they crashed out of the West District Cup and the second string had to settle for two stalemates.

On Sunday the firsts lost 4-0 at home to Glasgow Accies to exit the West District Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Accies took the lead when a shot from a short corner was well covered by EK’s sweeper but hit a stone on the way in and flicked up into the goal.

There was no such luck about Accies second 10 minutes later but EK recovered well and had their best period of the game. They were passing the ball beautifully at times but just could not get the end result.

Just when it looked like they may get back in to the action, Accies killed off the game with a short corner and then scored their fourth in the final seconds.

Meanwhile, East Kilbride’s second XI came away from a frustrating game against Loch Lomond with a 1-1 draw.

EK scored from a short corner five minutes into the game with a fantastic strike from the left top of the D from Sonya Andrews. But later on in the first half Lomond equalised to grab a point.

Rosie Campbell was named player of the match with EK’s Katie Stewart named opposition player of the match.

Stewart also took both player of the match accolades after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Garnock. Fiona Bond and Sheona Hutchison got EK’s goals.
