Police assaults denied

Court hearing

- Andrea O’Neill

Two women have denied assaulting police at a house in The Murray.

Chantelle Law, 18, is accused of attempting to kick, punch and slap three male officers at Telford Road on March 13.

It is alleged she obstructed police by swinging her legs and attempting to kick police witnesses and swinging her arms and hands in the air in an attempt to punch and slap them.

The teenager, of Cambuslang, allegedly pulled and wriggled her body and arm away from police and attempted to break free of their grasp and escape from them.

Janelle O’Donnell, 40, is also facing a police assault charge.

It is claimed she seized hold of a female officer and dug her nails into her arms, to her injury.

O’Donnell, who lives at the Telford Road address, is also charged with threatening behaviour following claims she shouted, swore and made threats.

Co-accused Declan Law is alleged to have obstructed six police officers by using a couch to barricade himself withing the property in an attempt to resist arrest.

The 20-year-old, also of Telford Road, is also charged with threatening behaviour.

It is claimed he shouted and swore at police and made sexual remarks towards two female cops.

Mr Law was allegedly released on bail at the time.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, all three accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail.

The case was adjourned for trial on July 28.

An interim hearing has been scheduled for July 3.
