East Kilbride school pupils will aim to show they are top of the class with a TV appearance next week.

A team from Mossneuk Primary will be appearing in the next round of CBBC quiz show ‘Top Class’ after overcoming opposition from Whitehorse Manor Junior School from Surrey.

Mossneuk’s Jacob Darroch, Hannah Kelly, Christie Lunn and Erin Jenkins enjoyed a win when they first appeared in an episode broadcast in January.

They are due back on our screens at the end of this month on Wednesday, March 29.

Team captain Jacob was delighted with their run so far and said: “It was a brilliant experience recording the shows and getting to see behind the scenes at the television studios.

“I especially enjoyed getting to spend time in the Green Room because it made you feel like a real TV star.”

Team-mate Erin continued: “We worked well together as a team. There were a few wee blips but we supported each other as friends.”

Christie loved the lifestyle, adding: “It felt like they made a real fuss of us and getting our hair and make-up done was like being a proper celebrity.”

The episodes of the show the pupils appear in were actually filmed almost a year ago and although the pupils are representing Mossneuk, they all now attend Duncanrig Secondary.

Hannah admitted it has been hard to keep their results quiet.

“We all had to promise not to tell anyone how we got on and it has been really difficult to keep it secret,” she said.

“It was a big relief when the first episode was broadcast.

“It meant we could finally speak about it but I’m afraid we can’t tell you how we got on in the quarterfinal.”

The quiz format includes a round for teachers and Mossneuk Primary head teacher Craig Connon took on the challenge.

He was also delighted to be involved in the programme.

“It was great fun and a fascinating experience,” he said.

“Given the chance I would definitely do it again.

“Since the first episode was broadcast there has been more than one mention made of how many times I said pass!

“Thanks to the rest of the team we still won.”
