W3ST pitchto welcome visitors

- Mark Pirie

Whiteshagate 3G Sports Trust (W3ST) are inviting the people of Strathaven to come along and try out the new pitch for themselves.

An open day will be held at the Strathaven Rugby Club this Saturday from 12noon to 2pm.

W3ST officials hope many locals will pop along to check out the new turf, speak to football and rugby club members and perhaps take the odd penalty or conversion while they are there.

Grant Law from W3ST said: “The pitch is complete and we are delighted with it.

“Now we want to show it off to the people of Strathaven who have supported us in our efforts to get to this stage.

“We can’t wait to meet as many locals as possible and let them see for themselves what a great facility this will be for the whole community for years to come.

“Hopefully this open day will encourage even more people to get involved and to come along on match days to support their town’s rugby and football clubs.

“It really is exciting times for sport in Strathaven.”
