Over 1300 beer festival tickets sold in one night

- Mark Pirie

Tickets for this year’s Eaglesham Beer Festival have gone on general sale – and festival-goers are being urged to be quick so they don’t miss out.

This comes after nearly half of the 3000-ticket allocation were sold at an early-sale event held earlier last week.

A pop-up sales event for local people was set up in the village’s Eglinton Arms and organiser Fraser Wilson said they were completely overwhelmed with the turnout for the event which will be held on Saturday, May 27.

The independent food and drink festival on the Eaglesham Playing Fields will welcome top brewers and suppliers to the village.

On the day there will be great beers, cider, wine, prosecco, and maybe even a sneaky gin or two at a cocktail stall – which can all be enjoyed on site.

Fraser told the News: “My wife and I hoped we would maybe sell about 150 to 200 tickets, but we couldn’t believe how popular it was.

“We turned up at 6.25pm to start selling at 6.30pm thinking there would maybe be a few people milling about. But when we got there it was queued outside and round the corner.

“In the end we ended up selling just short of 1400 tickets. It was crazy and we ended up staying there for an hour extra just to keep up with demand.”

Tickets are on sale now priced at £3 a single or £10 for a group ticket for four people. The Beer Fest team have started sending out QR codes to those who bought tickets previously and these will be sent out in batches. It is hoped all tickets will be dispatched within the week.
