5th BB youngsters make a big splash

-

A group of young swimmers from the 5th East Kilbride Boys’ Brigade Company have had great success at the Glasgow Battalion Swimming Gala bringing home a significant haul of medals.

The young swimmers won a total of nine medals with the Junior Section’s Reuben Sie winning gold in freestyle and breaststroke events, as well as bronze in the relay.

Alexander Collins claimed bronze both in breaststroke and relay, while Jamie Boyd took home silver in freestyle and bronze in both breaststroke and relay.

There was even more good news for the Boyd family as Jamie’s younger brother Gregor won a bronze medal in the Anchor Boys Event.

Boys’Brigade Captain Richard Hall said:“I am delighted with the success of our swimmers in bringing back so many medals.

“We meet as a company on Thursday and Friday evenings in the East Kilbride West Kirk and the officers encourage the boys to try their best in all activities they take part in – and they’ve certainly done that here.

“I’d like to thank the parents for their support and to the boys for their enthusiastic participation in the swimming event.”
