East Kilbride Amateurs’bid to reach the semi-finals of the West Cup were quashed by Colville Park on Saturday.

The hosts ran out deserved 2-0 winners to bring EK’s trophy hopes to an end.

Colville were well on top in the first 25 minutes and only two fine saves from Henderson thwarted them from taking the lead. He first saved from Fotheringham one-on -one and then a turned a header from Mulvey round the post.

EK responded with a 20 minute spell which saw Gray’s effort after a scramble in box blocked and the Colville keeper make a good save from Ryan.

The first goal was always going to be crucial and Colville took the lead after 62 minutes. A corner from the right to the far post was put back across goal and Greenlees headed in from six yards.

EK tried to get back into game but to little avail. Colville secured a place in the semi final when Murray slotted into the bottom corner from 12 yards in the last minute.
