Plant Sale An important date for your diary – once again the Carmunnock Guides will be hosting “The Great Carmunnock Plant Sale”, on Saturday, May 20. Over 12,000 bedding plants were sold last year, bringing a lovely splash of colour to the village. The order forms will be available in April, when you can pre-order for collection on May 20. It’s always a great day of fun with coffee and cake. If you need further information, you can call Sandra Hawkins on (0141) 237 4225.

Scarecrow Competition It won’t be long now until Gala Week and, once again, the very popular Scarecrow competition will be taking place. Entry forms are available to download on the gala website which is www. carmunnockgala.com. The standard has been very high over the past two years, but it’s great fun just taking part. Therefore, get the thinking caps on. It’s not too early to start creating now – and there is a wonderful trophy for the winner.

Drama Club The Carmunnock Drama Club’s Springtime production this year will be another, “Play Pizza and Plonk” presentation. This has been a successful offering in the past, with four short plays accompanied by a slice of pizza and a glass of wine. Tickets are now available from Fred Hearle on 644 5699 or from any cast member. Please don’t delay as they sell out very quickly. Tickets are priced at a very modest £6 each.

Easter holidays Children from Carmunnock Primary School broke up for their Easter holiday last Friday with an Easter Service in the Carmunnock Parish Church. The service was led by the Rev. Gray Fletcher, but the children did all the readings and singing with the school choir being in particularly good form. Well done to all of them. Musicality evening The Castlemilk Hall Management Committee’s Musicality Evening last Thursday was a resounding success. This was a production by The Theatre Guild Concert Party’s “Music from the Shows”, with all the usual cast members performing all the old favourite numbers. They certainly had the feet tapping. What a wonderful evening, with a glass of Prosecco and nibbles. Well done to all the committee members who did a great job preparing the hall and keeping everyone’s glass topped up.
