Couple denychild assault

An East Kilbride couple have appeared in court charged with assaulting a young child whilst she was wearing handcuffs.

Kelly Rae, 35, is accused of pushing the girl onto a bed, sitting on top of her and repeatedly striking her on the head.

It is claimed she also pulled the child’s hair and held her down whilst she was handcuffed.

Co-accused Stephen Rae, 34, is alleged to have held the child down and handcuffed her.

Both accused denied committing the offence at a property in East Kilbride on December 3. The case was adjourned until June 12 at Hamilton Sheriff Court. Trial has been scheduled for July 6.

Kelly and Stephen Rae were both allowed bail in the meantime.
