Walking stick charge
The trial of a man accused of permanently disfiguring another man with a walking stick was discharged.
James Kane, 38, allegedly struck his victim on the head with the stick, causing him to fall to the ground, before stamping on his body.
It is claimed the man was kicked to the head and repeatedly struck on the head with a walking stick to his severe injury and permanent impairment, at Kelso Drive, East Mains, on March 31 last year.
Kane, of King Street, Carstairs, claimed selfdefence at Hamilton Sheriff Court. The case was adjourned until May 5.
Trial has been scheduled for May 11. Kane’s bail order was continued.
