Funds donated to Kilbryde Hospice
Senior pupils at Calderglen High School donated much-needed funds to Kilbryde Hospice by cementing the school’s name in‘Tony’s Path’.
Calderglen senior pupils have forged a strong link with the East Kilbride hospice by paying tribute to founding member Tony McGuinness in the hospice garden.
The St Leonards school now features on engraved bricks in a special path built in Tony’s memory.
Pupils presented a cheque for £180 to Tony’s widow Gretta which will be used to dedicate three bricks in‘Tony’s Path’on behalf of the Calderglen Befriending Project and Calderglen Community placements.
Odette Frazer, depute head teacher at Calderglen, said:“We have over 90 pupils volunteering across a wide range of placements.
“They are also classroom supporters within Sanderson High, have worked with the NHS on a life-story project and, of course, they volunteer to be part of our very successful befriending project that is run at Calderglen, supported by Avril Anderson.
“Our pupils really enjoy volunteering and of course get so much from their experiences.”
