Assault charge

Being accused of assaulting a pregnant woman and a child has landed a West Mains man in the dock.

Robert Hutton, of Kirktonholme Road, is alleged to have kicked the woman on the body and seized her by the throat, to her injury. The 32-year-old is also charged with seizing and pushing a young boy on the body.

The alleged offence happened at a house in East Kilbride on April 17.

Hutton pleaded not guilty to both charges at Hamilton Sheriff Court and was bailed.

He was called back to the dock on July 24. Trial is fixed for August 18.
