Road detour forces ramblers off course

- Kathleen McCann

St Leonard’s Rambling Club began their recent excursion day at 8am with expectations of a short journey up the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond.

However, a truck stuck on the embankment meant a very long detour to the north shores and down towards Invergluss, which at least gave more time for a good catch-up on the bus.

The low walkers headed south to Arrochar but the high walkers took a slightly longer route and veered westward, first into the hills before travelling south to Arrochar.

This was a nine-mile hike in sunshine and showers – but more of the latter.

Ramblers then spent a social hour in Arrochar before heading back to East Kilbride.

When there are spaces on the bus, new members are most welcome.

The club arranges trips every second weekend with an excursion planned to Inveraray this Saturday.
