Graeme Stewart, Lewis MacKinnon, who is the assistant manager, Andy Low and Drew Copeland – so there will be plenty of catching up to do.

“Graeme Stewart signed me, but I play for EK now and I’ll be doing everything I can to get us promoted.

“They are a very good side and I’m sure it will be a close game.

“We know who their key players will be, but we’ll be focusing on how we can influence the game.”

McGinley was in the stand as Kilby slumped to only their third defeat of the season at Ochilview.

The visitors took the lead in 22 minutes when Martin McBride’s curling strike from 30 yards found the top corner.

Just seven minutes later David Grant equalised for Shire to send the teams in level at the break.

On the hour mark Jamie Glasgow’s effort stunned Kilby as they fell behind to the side they beat to the Lowland title.

Martin Lauchlan’s men hit back in 71 minutes when Russell McLean forced the Shire keeper into a mistake and slotted home from close range.

But three minutes from time Shire were awarded a penalty and Shaw converted to earn all three points.

Kilby finish the season 13 points clear of Shire at the top of the table, but McGinley was still gutted to see his side falter on the final day.

He said: “The boys were upset to lose it and from where I was it looked like a soft penalty at the end.

“It’s never nice to lose, but obviously there were bigger things on our mind than that game.”

Following this Saturday’s play-off first leg, EK will begin their Lowland Cup defence just 24 hours later when they host Spartans in the first round.

Kilby had the option to pull out of the tournament due to their participation in the play-offs, but will instead give many of their under-20 players a run-out, as well as firstteam stars who won’t feature against Buckie. Kick-off on Sunday is 3pm.

Meanwhile, the U20s beat Edinburgh City 2-1 on Monday night to stay on course for the league title after Nathan Khanna and Blair Kidd The Highland League may have come to a conclusion on Saturday with Buckie Thistle being crowned champions from Cove Rangers on goal difference, but the League Two side who will drop into the play-offs still remains unclear.

All of the sides in the bottom three tasted defeat, so Cowdenbeath are still bottom of the pile and in line to play either East Kilbride or Buckie Thistle in the League Two play-off final next month.

The Blue Brazil lost 2-1 to title hopefuls Arbroath, while Berwick were beaten 1-0
